Amanda Rishworth was born and educated in Adelaide, attending state schools before studying at Flinders University where she was the President of the Student Union. During her studies Amanda worked as a sales assistant and developed a strong interest in workplace fairness. She later worked as an advocate for retail workers in the southern suburbs, protecting people's rights in their workplaces
She later graduated with a Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Adelaide.
Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Amanda was a practising Psychologist and worked with General Practitioners in the delivery of mental health care to the community. Amanda also worked as a training co-ordinator, educating retail employees about industrial rights and occupational health and safety.
Amanda has continued her long-standing involvement in the community which has included many years as a volunteer swimming instructor and surf lifesaver. Amanda still enjoys volunteering as a surf life saver for the Christies Beach Surf Life Saving club and supporting local businesses and organisations in the South.

Name: Named after Charles Cameron Kingston (1850–1908), Premier of South Australia (1893–1899), elected to the first House of Representatives in 1901 and first Member for the division of Adelaide in 1903.
Area and Location Description: The division covers an area of approximately 377 sq km from Hallett Cove and O'Halloran Hill in the north to Sellicks Beach in the south.
The main suburbs include Aldinga Beach, Christie Downs, Christies Beach, Hackham, Hallett Cove, Happy Valley, Huntfield Heights, Lonsdale, McLaren Flat, McLaren Vale, Maslin Beach, Moana, Morphett Vale, Old Noarlunga, Onkaparinga Hills, Port Noarlunga, Reynella, Seaford, Sellicks Beach, Sheidow Park, Port Willunga, Trott Park, Willunga and Woodcroft.
Products/Industries of the area: Wineries, motor vehicle production, major retailing and various small industries including brickworks, optical lenses, clothing and engineering occupy the northern part of the division.
